| At Broken Oak Ranch you will find some of the finest Braunvieh and Simbravieh Genetics available. We are a family ran ranch and business enterprise. You will find that dealing with us we treat our customers and visitors the way that we want to be treated. Honesty and integrity in the seed stock business is the way we do business. We are located in South Central Texas in Guadalupe and Caldwell counties. A short drive from both San Antonio and Austin. We operate 4000 acres of improved pastures along with 450 mother cows, 100 developing heifers and developing bulls. We have private treaty cattle available at all times. Our daily lives are filled with the same challenges as all cattle people and along with this the hard work and dedication that it takes to survive in the market place. This is why you will find top quality Braunvieh and Simbravieh cattle at our operation that will produce. We are a data driven operation and pride ourselves on our complete record keeping that we maintain in our herd. We can offer our customers all of the pertinent data on any purchase to help them to rest assured that they have functional and solid income producing seed stock. Our cattle are culled heavily in our program as they mature to insure that when you get BOR stock you will return for your next seed stock investment. We have reached into many producers herds to get the quality cattle for our foundation. We have tried to improve on these genetics with our solid time proven program. Our herd is DNA verified or profiled, we are BVD PI tested free, have a solid whole herd health program, along with genetic testing for desirable traits. Every animal is scrutinized to insure maximum out put with minimum input. Weights are taken in our development program for both heifers and bulls, any cattle that are not measuring up are culled. With the past drought that we experienced in our area we have culled deep into our herd. Only the very top cows have survived. Our replacement pens have been kept to a minimum what we have are top producers out of proven cow families. Fertility is monitored in our cow families. We do not just concentrate on replacements but rather the whole family. If we find a cow family that is under performing on a regular basis the whole family is culled. Along with Braunvieh we are involved in the Simbravieh breed that is emerging as one of the most functional breeds for the Gulf Coast area. Our good friends at LaMuneca Cattle Company introduced us to a brilliant idea of theirs about developing this new breed. The herd book is kept by the Braunvieh Association of America and is registered as part of their Beef Builder program. Check out our Simbravieh page for more information on this exciting breed. We do offer quality show animals also at Broken Oak. We do not run our operation breeding just for the show ring, however, with the large herd we have been fortunate to have produced many champion Braunvieh.
