Mr. BOR Encino is the culmination of years of selective breeding in our proven program. He is sired by Coal Miner, a Polled Thunder son and our great donor Phenomenon. This homozygous polled bull is putting his progeny on the ground here and at our partners La Muneca Cattle Company. This outstanding bull was shown and displayed successfully for us by the Flying I Ranch show team. We are very pleased with his progeny to date. All are vigorous at birth and he has displayed a calving ease tendency like his sire. His progeny have averaged 84 pound birth weight so far and we have used him on heifers but do not have enough data in yet to recommend him as a heifer bull. Encino brings together the complete package for us here at Broken Oak Ranch. Sired by Coal Miner who was one of our most consistent sires and out of our top donor Phenomenon. We are using him AI and pasture breeding many of our cows to him. Look for his progeny in our upcoming production sales.
Pictured here at left is an Encino calf out of the WTR Baylee cow that our partners La Muneca Cattle Company have. This picture taken by our friend Carlos Guerra shows the quality you can expect from Encino. Of course having one of the top dams in the whole breed helps also but it takes two to produce these kinds of results. We are breeding these also and are excited about the possibilities that this cross will bring. As you can see Carlos takes a good picture. I love it when he comes for many reasons, but getting great pictures is always a good side benefit of his visits. |
