Mr. BOR Encino is the culmination of years of selective breeding in our proven program. He is sired by Coal Miner, a Polled Thunder son and our great donor Phenomenon. He is tested homozygous polled, this along with performance and calving ease in one package. We are very pleased with his progeny to date. All are vigorous at birth and he has displayed a calving ease tendency like his sire. His progeny have averaged 85 pound birth weight so far and we have used him on heifers but do not have enough data in yet to recommend him as a heifer bull. His female progeny all show his clean front and neck extension, while his male progeny show his tendency to growth and function. An outstanding homozygous polled package here that will influence the breed for a long time to come. We are using him in our ET program along with AI and pasture breeding many of our cows to him. Pictured here is an example of an Encino bull calf that is in our bull development pasture. He is out of one of our many Quinto daughters that we have at Broken Oak Ranch. Mr. BOR 00306U shows what we are trying to breed into our cattle at Broken Oak, moderate birth weights unassisted, good weaning weights, and explosive yearling weights with a carcass that pays premiums. All this in a polled future herdsire. This herdsire prospect had an impressive 600 pound weaning weight at 190 days old adjusted to 645 pounds. This was done in this terrible drought, it shows the easy doing combination of the Phenomenon bloodline and the great milking ability of the Quinto bloodline all wrapped up in one package. Mr BOR 00965U is another example of what Encino can do for your program. This calf out of our ET program shows the refinement and front extension that mated correctly Encino can bring. His females are always the first admired in our pastures so we have decided to feature his sons on out web site to insure that our customers do not loose track of his impressive performance capability. This calf is a double polled purebred out of MISS SF 313 that was in our donor pen for many years and has produced some of the fancy type of cattle that so many seek. He had an 89 pound birth weight with a 557 pound adjusted weaning weight scoring a 106 ratio in our in herd contemporary group of 113, and a 999 adjusted yearling weight. Performance in a moderate package. This again in drought. His EPD expression is a very balanced package. Mr BOR 00965 was the first pick by one of new buyers. Selected right out of the bull test pasture he is now home near Tyler awaiting spring and his opportunity to pass his genetics on. |
