When our good friend Carlos Guerra with La Muneca Cattle Co. first mentioned his idea of starting a new breed using the best of Simbrah and Braunvieh genetics we were intrigued. The Braunvieh Association of America was interested in bringing this breed on line using its Certified Beef Builder program so that a herd book could be established and maintained. On our trip to La Muneca we were treated to a pasture full of top quality Simbrah cows who had been bred to Braunvieh bulls. The calves were just unbelievable and exhibited all the great qualities that these two breeds are known for as far as muscling, bone, stamina, and growth. It was at that point that we decided to follow the Guerra family lead and pursue this. We are doing it a little different as we have a superior Braunvieh cow herd and chose what we thought was an outstanding Simbrah Herd Sire to start our Simbravieh program. LMC Hero also has given us a great side benefit of proving to being a calving ease bull. We are able to use him on our heifers, especially the Joker sired heifers in our program. Simbravieh is a perfect fit for our area and all of the southern United States. We view it as an opportunity to expand our sales to a more local market also providing what we think will become the new Queens of the Cow Country and the bull prospects are already exciting some of our bull customers who have been using our Braunvieh genetics in their cow herds and what to maintain a little ear for their heifer replacements. Introducing our newest Simbrah herdsire for use in our Simbravieh program. LMC Zorro another outstanding bull that we own with La Muneca. He fits our program to a tee and will be in our pastures breeding summer 2009. |
